| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | These instructions were dangerous. I was provided with them by a user who found them, and I thought that it would be safe to allow access to boot the HDD so long as the OS was encrypted. However, this is not the point. With that option unrestricted, anyone with physical access could replace the HDD with another LUKS-encrypted one with the same set up (just a different system, different key, different passphrase, etc) and now they are able to run their own code on that laptop. This *is* dangerous. There is a lot that an attacker can do to the laptop if they are able to boot an OS on it! Basically, Francis Rowe was being foolish to add these instructions. Now he's wised up a bit. | ||||

| | | | | | | | | I wanted to get a release done as quickly as possible (within 24 hours after pushing this commit). That release will most likely be short-lived; as soon as it's out, the plan is to work as fast as possible fixing as many bugs as possible (there are a lot) and make a new release again as soon as possible. | ||||

* | docs/install/bbb_setup.html: re-add red colour reference for 5V | Francis Rowe | 2015-05-16 | 1 | -1/+1 |
| | | | | | | Colourblind people still have pinouts to fall back on, while non-colourblind people will have an easier time just knowing "avoid red". Everyone wins. | ||||
* | docs/install/bbb_setup.html: re-add orange/green references | Francis Rowe | 2015-05-16 | 1 | -2/+2 |
| | | | | | | Pin numbers are still mentioned. Colour coding is easier for non-colourblind people, but colourblind people still have pinouts to fall back on. Everyone wins. | ||||
* | docs/install/bbb_setup.html: remove reference to ATX pin 12 | Francis Rowe | 2015-05-16 | 1 | -1/+1 |
| | | | | | It's dangerous to recommend this, because if the user has a 20-pin ATX PSU, they might use pin 12 on that which is -12V. | ||||

* | External flashing guides: don't refer to red. | Francis Rowe | 2015-05-16 | 8 | -19/+20 |
| | | | | | | | | | | | Colour blindness is real, and quite common. What's worse, 3.3V on an ATX PSU is an orange wire, not a red wire. Someone looking at "red" in the documentation might not think that you mean 3.3V live/hot (red is the standard colour), but instead they might connect the red wire from the ATX PSU which is 5V; this will destroy the flash chip. Also, red and orange look the same to most colour blind people. | ||||
